AMAZING GOD CONNECT

So I started taking this class at the church I am attending in Post Falls, Idaho -- New Life Community Church -- it is in Rathdrum, Idaho -- about 15 minutes from my home. THe pastor is from South AFrica, the co-pastor took a team to India last month -- they have a great focus of outreach through the ALPHA program and are globablly minded -- worship is focused on Jesus and annointed -- I believe the Lord has lead me here and the connections have been great so far.

But the best was last night in this class which is on Prophecy -- it is a comprehensive course -- 14 weeks long -- lots of reading and practicum as well. The pastor started by sharing a bit of his background and his desire to really see the greater body of Christ move in the fullness of the gifts and to retreat from the areas where it has been in error. He was stating that he felt that the "Prophetic" had been really abused as of late and wanted to make sure that everyone had a very bibilical understanding the various forms of this gift.

He started to share how as a new believer in the 70's he was influenced by a well-known prophet who has given words about Israel and the government which lead up to the exact things coming true and one of the peace treaties that were signed by Israel & Egypt -- he and his new wife felt strongly that God would use them in this way as well -- They moved to Israel and grew in the Lord. While over there -- he received a word that he would "speak to kings" someday. He thought -- "what am I going to go to England and see the Queen?" He had no idea how this could be possible. Anyway -- about 4 years laster they moved back to South Africa and pastored a church that grew to over 5000-6000 people. The ministry that was taking place in this area -- and many miraculous things as well, gained the attention of the King of the Zulu's. His Majesty Goodwill Zwelethini -- he was summoned to the palace to meet this king -- he and his wife could not believe that God was setting this up. Once he arrived -- he was sharing about what God was doing and spoke to the King personally about his own faith in God. He ended up leading him to the Lord- - this was in the early 1980's.

I sat in the chair and I was smiling from ear to ear as this pastor, very humbly recalled God using them in this way -- I smiled because King Goodwill Zwelethini is the King that Officiated over the opening of the Seed of Hope in the township of Bhekulwandle -- the center that Derek & Heather Liebenberg founded that I had the privilege of being a part of the launching in the beginning. What are the chances of this? This was a confirmation of so many things for me in a season when I have moved into very new uncharted territory -- a home, a return to school -- a season of rest from extensive travel.

I look forward to getting a chance to talk to this pastor someday and to tell him this story as I think he would be encouraged as well -- right now -- he has no idea about any of this -- I was just a guy in a chair in his class.......The Lord is with Us!

Peace
John

A Home in Idaho and in the Heart of God

Ok -- the Lord woke me up this morning at 3:55 am -- pretty wide awake -- kind of surprising considering yesterday morning when the alarm clock went off at 6:00 am, because I had to drive for the place I am volunteering here in Post Falls. I drive some friends who are homeless right now and who are participating in Project Family Idaho -- to their destinations. Anyway -- the morning came fast and hard that day - but today -- there was a quick opening of my eyes and an expectation of something -- only God knows. I went to a prayer meeting last night at the church I have been attending - -New Life Community Church - they meet for an hour -- no list -- just seek God's presence -- seek His heart -- and then wait there -- a true exercise in pursuing the heart of God -- how great to Have a Pastor that sees that as a worthwhile adventure!

So this morning -- I am thinking -- about Haiti -- I booked a ticket with miles, by faith, -- to leave on March 15th and return on March 23rd -- where I will stay, what I will be doing- don't know -- don't know if the airport will even be open for commercial flights by then -- but I booked the ticket this morning -- we shall see what God does. The dates come during what will be Spring Break from the University I have started attending. Perhaps I can incorporate what happens on that trip into my studies somehow -- we shall see.

Ok -- so this morning I was reading Luke 11:2-4 The Lord's prayer and then went on to read from vs. 5-11 wherein Jesus goes on to talk about a friend going to another friend in the middle of the night because of a pressing need. Something out of the ordinary -- Jesus talks about "He will not get up and give him the bread because He is his friend, but because of His boldness" vs. 8 -- I was struck here at Jesus, who knows the Father so intimately is saying, that the father is our Friend and we can boldly approach him with our requests -- because He loves us! Jesus goes on to say in vs. 11 about "which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead?" He was pointing out the fact that the love that the father has for his children is deep -- and even if we, as an earthly father can see that we would love our children, how much more would our heavenly father do for his children. Jesus was really trying to get the disciples to realize that their father in heaven really loves them.

I heard some of the Lord's heart in that this morning -- Jesus had such a strong desire for his disciples to Know this foundational truth -- that they have a Father in Heaven who cares deeply for them and they are loved!

So this morning, at what is now 5:32 am -- I am at rest in my new home in Idaho and in a deeper understanding of the heart of my Father in Heaven -- I pray you would know the same!

Jesus’ Teaching on Prayer

1 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

2 He said to them, “When you pray, say:

“‘Father,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.

3 Give us each day our daily bread.

4 Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.c
And lead us not into temptation.d’”

5 Then he said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, 6 because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.’

7 “Then the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ 8 I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man’s boldnesse he will get up and give him as much as he needs.

9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
